About Bushell Mill AllotmentsThe site has been cultivated for many years. Some gardeners have been there for decades, whilst others are just starting on their new enterprise. Bushell Mill had a previous society which was closed. The present Association was formed in late 2004. After a series of vandalism, which was reported to the local area councillor Peter Adams, it was suggested that an Association be formed. Several plot holders got together and gathered interest from other gardeners. With backing from the Poole Councillors a meeting was held and the first committee formed. The end of 2005 saw a membership of over 60 plot holders and now all persons taking over a vacant plot are invited to join us. In 2005 Contintal Landscapes was contracted by the Poole Council to run the adminstration and upkeep of the site, which has proved a great step forward. The contractors inspect the site periodically to see if any plots are remaining uncultivated. The corresponding plot holders are the advised to cultivate their plot or have their agreement terminated. Now almost all plots are culivated. The waiting list of interested persons is always full now about 180 and it can mean waiting up to two years to get a plot. This could be 3 or 4 years as the waiting list grows. We can only recommend this interesting hobby and the benefit of producing you own fresh foods.
